Do your own comparison of the four models for deeper learning presented in the chapter and identify commonalities you think are important. Then think about how these commonalities could be used to focus the program of study at your school.

Discuss your school or district ’s approach to the transition to new college and career readiness standards. In what ways are implementation efforts focusing on compliance rather than achieving the goals of the Common Core State Standards?
Review course syllabi to determine the balance of declarative, procedural, conditional, and conceptual knowledge. Is one type of knowledge overemphasized? Is any type underemphasized?
Assign and evaluate student work that explicitly focuses on conceptual knowledge and deeper learning.
